Agency (New Delhi): JD(S) MLA from Holenarasipura, HD Revanna, will be released from Bengaluru Central Prison today after being granted conditional bail in connection with a kidnapping case linked to an ‘obscene video’ incident. The special court for people’s representatives granted the bail on Monday evening.
Revanna, who was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 4, faces charges related to a kidnapping case registered at KR Nagar police station in Bengaluru. He was remanded to judicial custody until May 14. The court granted bail on a Rs 5 lakh bond.
The case involves allegations against HD Revanna and his son, Prajwal Revanna, of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation. A woman who worked in their household lodged the complaint, prompting the Karnataka government to form an SIT to investigate. HD Revanna and an associate were booked under Sections 364A (kidnapping for ransom), 365 (kidnapping with intent to cause harm), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The FIR lists HD Revanna as the primary accused and another man, identified as Babanna, as the second accused.
Revanna has dismissed the charges, claiming they are part of a political conspiracy against him. “It’s a political conspiracy going on against me. In my 40 years of political life, I have never seen anything like this,” he told reporters.
Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna continue to be under investigation by the SIT for the allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation.
