Agency(Andhra Pradesh): Following extensive negotiations this Monday, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) constituents in Andhra Pradesh have meticulously delineated their seat-sharing strategy for the forthcoming Lok Sabha and state legislative elections. This strategic arrangement allocates six Lok Sabha and ten assembly constituencies to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is slated to contest from seventeen Lok Sabha and an impressive 144 state assembly seats.
Additionally, the JanaSena Party, led by Pawan Kalyan, is set to field candidates in two Lok Sabha and twenty-one assembly constituencies, as unveiled by TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu post-discussion. A pivotal meeting in Amaravati brought together senior BJP figure and Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, with Naidu and Kalyan, laying the groundwork for this collaborative electoral venture.
“In Amaravati today, the cohesive force of the BJP, TDP, and JSP (JanaSena Party) has birthed a robust seat-sharing framework. This pivotal move heralds a new dawn for Andhra Pradesh, steering us towards regaining our esteemed state and ensuring a luminous future. I earnestly beckon the citizens of Andhra Pradesh to endow this alliance with their blessings, entrusting us with a momentous mandate to serve,” Naidu articulated through a message on X, signifying the alliance’s resolve.
The state, hosting 25 Lok Sabha and 175 assembly seats, witnesses this tri-party alliance as a historic first. Initially, JanaSena’s electoral plan included contending in twenty-four assembly and three Lok Sabha seats. However, following TDP’s incorporation into the NDA fold, adjustments were made, resulting in JanaSena’s current allocation.
This coalition marks a significant shift from the 2014 elections scenario, where TDP and BJP allied while JanaSena supported from the sidelines. Already, the TDP and JanaSena have declared candidates for 100 seats, with assurances of forthcoming announcements for the remaining candidatures.
This collaborative seat distribution not only mirrors the collective aspiration of the people of Andhra Pradesh but also represents a strategic maneuver aimed at maximizing the alliance’s electoral impact. In anticipation of the elections, TDP has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grace an electoral rally scheduled between March 17 and 20. This event, potentially featuring Modi alongside Naidu and Kalyan on the same stage, symbolizes a landmark moment, potentially uniting these leaders for the first time in a decade.
The formulation of this alliance and the detailed seat-sharing arrangement underscores a shared vision amongst the NDA partners, aiming to fortify their electoral prospects while addressing the aspirations and needs of Andhra Pradesh’s populace. As the state gears up for the elections, the collaborative spirit of the BJP, TDP, and JanaSena sets the stage for a fiercely contested battle, promising to shape the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh in the years to come.
