Agency (Bengaluru): Recognizing the critical role of infrastructure in driving economic growth, enhancing competitiveness, and improving the quality of life for citizens, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a comprehensive plan under its “Modi ki Guarantee for World-Class Infrastructure” as part of its election manifesto.
The party pledges to build on the impressive progress made over the past decade, which saw a significant expansion of the country’s road, rail, air, and digital infrastructure. The BJP aims to take India’s infrastructure to the next level, making it world-class, sustainable, and future-ready.
In the railways sector, the manifesto promises to expand the network of high-speed trains, including Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat express services, to provide faster, safer, and more comfortable travel options for passengers. The party also aims to expedite the construction of dedicated freight corridors to boost the movement of goods and decongest the existing rail network.
Recognizing the growing demand for air travel, the BJP pledges to develop new airports, modernize existing ones, and enhance regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme. The party also aims to transform airports into multi-modal hubs, integrating them with other modes of transport like metro, bus, and rail services to provide seamless connectivity for passengers.
The manifesto also highlights the BJP’s vision for developing smart, sustainable, and livable cities. The party aims to promote the use of technology, data analytics, and citizen participation to improve urban governance, service delivery, and quality of life. The BJP also pledges to develop new satellite cities and industrial corridors to decongest existing urban centers and promote balanced regional development.
In the digital infrastructure space, the BJP promises to provide universal broadband connectivity through the expansion of the BharatNet project. The party aims to leverage the power of 5G and 6G technologies to drive digital transformation across sectors like healthcare, education, agriculture, and e-governance, making India a global leader in the digital economy.
Other key initiatives include the expansion of the national highway network, with a focus on developing express highways and ring roads around major cities; the development of inland waterways and coastal shipping to reduce logistics costs and carbon emissions; the modernization of ports to enhance trade competitiveness; the development of a robust charging infrastructure for electric vehicles; and the promotion of green and sustainable infrastructure through the use of renewable energy, waste management, and water conservation technologies.
