Agency (Bengaluru): Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to protecting India’s national security and territorial integrity, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a comprehensive set of initiatives under its “Modi ki Guarantee for Surakshit Bharat” as part of its election manifesto.
The party pledges to continue its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, building on the success of the 2016 surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot air strikes. The BJP aims to strengthen India’s intelligence and counter-terrorism capabilities to prevent and pre-empt any threats to the nation’s security.
To enhance the operational effectiveness of India’s armed forces, the manifesto proposes the theaterization of military commands. This move aims to promote better coordination and synergy among the army, navy, and air force, enabling them to respond swiftly and decisively to any security challenges.
Recognizing the importance of robust infrastructure along India’s borders, the BJP pledges to accelerate the development of roads, railways, telecom networks, and power grids in these critical areas. The party also aims to introduce technological solutions to make border fencing smarter and more effective in deterring infiltration attempts.
The manifesto also highlights the BJP’s resolve to eliminate the menace of left-wing extremism (LWE) in all its forms. The party proposes to strengthen paramilitary forces with state-of-the-art equipment and training, while ensuring that development and welfare schemes reach the people in LWE-affected areas. The BJP aims to adopt a 360-degree approach, combining security measures with development initiatives, to bring lasting peace and prosperity to these regions.
Recognizing the growing threat posed by drug trafficking and abuse, the BJP pledges to launch a decisive war against drugs. The party aims to leverage advanced technologies like big data analytics, artificial intelligence, drones, and satellite imagery to detect and dismantle drug networks. The focus will be on both supply reduction and demand prevention, with a special emphasis on protecting the youth from the scourge of drugs.
To strengthen India’s legal framework and improve the delivery of justice, the manifesto proposes the expeditious implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The party aims to provide training, online courses, and curriculum updates to ensure the effective adoption of this new criminal code.
Other key initiatives include the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to provide citizenship to persecuted minorities from neighboring countries, modernization of police forces through the Police Modernization Scheme, launching a National Forensics Mission to improve conviction rates, expanding India’s defense footprint in strategic locations, safeguarding the nation’s digital sovereignty, and implementing robust cybersecurity policies.
