Agency (New Delhi): The recent release of eight Indian Navy veterans by Qatar is a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effective diplomatic engagements. This achievement underscores his commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Indians worldwide.
Prime Minister Modi’s meeting with Qatari Amir Tamim Bin Hamad in Dubai last year played a pivotal role in securing the release of the Navy veterans, who were held for 18 months on espionage charges. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has lauded the Emir of Qatar for this decision, marking it as a diplomatic victory for India.
This successful intervention is part of the Modi government’s broader strategy to rescue Indian citizens in distress, whether abroad or within the country. The government has consistently ensured the safety of its citizens, extending support during the most challenging times.
Numerous successful rescue missions have been conducted under the Modi government, benefiting not only Indians but also foreign nationals. These missions have included evacuating people from conflict zones, areas affected by natural disasters, and other crisis situations.
A notable example of the government’s diplomatic prowess was the release of Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman by Pakistan in 2019, following the Balakot surgical strike. This was achieved without any harm to Varthaman, a significant diplomatic accomplishment.
Domestically, the Modi government has also been proactive. The rescue mission of 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand is a prime example. Prime Minister Modi closely monitored the operation, leading to the safe return of all workers.
These rescue operations extend to international crises as well. The government has demonstrated its commitment to the safety of Indian nationals abroad through a series of complex and well-executed evacuation operations. These missions have been lauded globally for their precision and efficiency.
