Agency (Karnataka): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a rally in Bagalkote, Karnataka, delivered a vehement critique of the Congress administration in the state. He accused the ruling party of transforming Karnataka from a globally recognized tech hub into a “tanker hub,” insinuating deep-seated corruption akin to the infamous 2G scam.
“The Congress has not just failed in governance but is operating an extortion racket,” Modi asserted. He warned that the fiscal mismanagement by the state could soon lead to a failure in meeting government payroll obligations. This critique extends to the alleged misallocation of resources which, according to Modi, has left MLAs without necessary funds for development initiatives.
Adding to his rebuke of the state government’s performance, Modi highlighted serious law and order concerns, referencing two recent violent incidents in Karnataka that have stirred public and media outcry. He criticized the state government’s handling of these cases, suggesting that their actions were influenced by vote bank politics, which he claimed has allowed fundamentalist elements to act with impunity.
Furthering his attack, Modi contrasted the leadership style of Congress, particularly targeting Rahul Gandhi by suggesting that leaders who frequently take vacations cannot spearhead India’s development. He reiterated his vision for India to become the third largest global economy, emphasizing manufacturing and skill development as key areas of focus.
This rally comes at a crucial time as Karnataka prepares for the second phase of its Lok Sabha elections, set to occur on May 7, with the BJP seeking to gain a stronger foothold in the state legislature.
