Agency(West Bengal): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the violent incidents that occurred during the Ram Navami celebrations in Murshidabad. Speaking at a campaign event in the Raiganj constituency, she claimed that the disturbances were part of a deliberate plan by the BJP, citing the removal of the DIG of Murshidabad just one day prior to the festivities as evidence of their intentions.
“The entire episode was meticulously planned. They even had the DIG transferred a day before Ram Navami to facilitate the violence,” Banerjee stated.
In addition to these charges, the Chief Minister also alleged that BJP-affiliated hooligans attacked police officers during the events.
Simultaneously, opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari has sought intervention from the West Bengal Governor, C.V. Ananda Bose. In a letter penned on Thursday, Adhikari urged the Governor to visit the riot-affected areas. He blamed the Chief Minister’s provocative rhetoric for inciting the attackers, claiming her speech led to law enforcement being restrained from acting against the miscreants, thereby exacerbating the situation.
