Agency(West Bengal):West Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, on Tuesday, leveled serious allegations against the BJP, accusing them of plotting an assassination attempt on her nephew, MP Abhishek Banerjee. Speaking at a rally in West Bengal, she asserted that her nephew narrowly avoided death.
CM Banerjee recounted that Abhishek Banerjee was targeted for assassination during a deceptive Facetime call. “One of the traitors within the BJP threatened that a bomb would be used. They say, ‘If you hold a grudge, kill me with a bomb.’ They even attempted to murder Abhishek, but fortunately, we uncovered the plot in time,” she declared.
She further described how the alleged assassins prepared for the attack by surveilling Abhishek’s residence and attempting to schedule an appointment via Facetime, claiming that if her nephew had agreed to the meeting, he would have been shot.
Mamata Banerjee criticized the BJP’s aggressive tactics, suggesting that such actions stem from insecurity over electoral prospects. “If you were truly confident about winning with the people’s support, why would there be a need to terrorize them?” she challenged.
These accusations intensify the existing political strife between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP in West Bengal, as both parties prepare for upcoming electoral battles.
