Agency(New Delhi): In a recent gathering in Bangalore Rural, Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar praised the Gruhalakshmi scheme, describing it as a celebration of women’s integral role in Indian culture. Addressing Gruhalakshmi beneficiaries, Shivakumar highlighted the cultural importance of women, stating, “We worship Earth as Mother Earth, every village has a village goddess, women get first preference even in our invitations. Women are the center of our culture, they are the power driving our country.”
Shivakumar further emphasized the significance of educating women, equating it to opening a school due to its widespread impact. He mentioned that the Karnataka state government has initiated numerous programs based on this philosophy. The Deputy CM also drew attention to the state’s flag colors, yellow and red, symbolizing turmeric and vermillion, respectively.
The Deputy CM criticized the Opposition BJP for allegedly spreading misinformation about the state government’s initiatives. He assured that the government is committed to continuing these schemes not only for the full five-year term but also beyond.
The event also touched upon political dynamics, with Shivakumar claiming that the BJP and JDS are collaborating to defeat Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency’s current representative, DK Suresh. He accused both parties of forming an unlikely alliance and expressed confidence that the electorate would respond accordingly. Shivakumar highlighted a recent survey suggesting that even JDS voters are inclined to support Suresh in the forthcoming elections.
Shivakumar referenced a controversial statement by DK Suresh about the potential creation of a separate country in South India due to alleged inequitable distribution of developmental funds by the central government. He also outlined ongoing developmental efforts in Ramanagara district and plans to extend the Metro to Bidadi, emphasizing the commitment to local development and urging support for DK Suresh in the upcoming elections.
