Agency(Rajasthan): In the early hours of Wednesday, a troubling incident unfolded in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, where four individuals hailing from Haryana were subjected to a violent assault by local residents. The attack was motivated by suspicions that the men were involved in cow smuggling. According to police sources, the altercation took place near the Khushkhera police station area around 3 am.
Virendra Yadav, the Station House Officer (SHO) at Khushkhera Police Station, reported that their patrol unit was alerted to an ongoing situation where locals had intercepted a pickup truck allegedly used for transporting cows illicitly. Upon arrival, police discovered the four men in a battered condition and promptly arranged for their transfer to local hospitals for medical treatment.
In the aftermath of the confrontation, authorities were able to rescue seven cows found at the site, which were subsequently relocated to a cow shelter for safety. While initial reports from police indicated that the injuries sustained by the suspected smugglers resulted from physical assaults by the locals, some community members argued that the injuries were self-inflicted, occurring as the suspects attempted to flee the scene.
SHO Yadav elaborated on the community’s perspective, stating, “It was alleged that they were smuggling cows. According to locals who intercepted the vehicle, the four individuals sustained injuries in their attempt to escape. However, the involvement of locals in the beating will be determined through further investigation.” He also mentioned that legal proceedings would be initiated against the four individuals for their alleged role in cow smuggling.
The suspects, identified as Aarif, Gaffar, Salim, and Habib, all originate from Nuh district in Haryana. The police are actively investigating the incident to ascertain the precise dynamics of the confrontation and to determine the appropriate legal actions to be taken against all parties involved.
