Mumbai (Agency): The Mumbai Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Asit Kumarr Modi, the producer of the TV show “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,” and two others, based on a complaint of sexual harassment by a female actor, according to a police official. The FIR was lodged at Powai police station on Monday evening under sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. The show’s operation head and executive producer were also named in the FIR.
Last month, the actor approached the police and the National Commission for Women to file her complaint, alleging sexual harassment. The producer has denied the allegations, stating that the actor was released from the show due to misconduct.
Following the complaint, an inquiry was initiated, and the individuals named in the complaint were questioned. The actor has accused the producer of sexually harassing her on multiple occasions over the past few years.
“Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,” which premiered in 2008, is one of the longest-running sitcoms in the history of Indian television. The show features popular actors Dilip Joshi, Munmun Dutta, and Mandar Chandwadkar.
