Vote counting at a polling center in the Rajgarh Lok Sabha constituency of Madhya Pradesh was halted after Congress candidate Digvijaya Singh raised objections about mismatched seals on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Singh, speaking to the media, stated, “Seals of the EVMs of Sarangpur polling booth were not matching, therefore, I raised objection and counting was stopped.”
Digvijaya Singh, a prominent opposition politician, has been a vocal critic of EVM authenticity. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Singh lost to BJP’s Pragya Singh Thakur in Bhopal. This year, he contested from his home constituency of Rajgarh, appealing to voters for support in what he declared as his last election. Despite his appeal, Singh was trailing by over 50,000 votes against BJP’s Rodmal Nagar.
The BJP is currently leading in all 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh. Prominent BJP figures such as Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Vidisha), Jyotiraditya Scindia (Guna), and VD Sharma (Khajuraho) are leading with substantial margins.
