Agency (New Delhi): In response to the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory for commuters, following the complete sealing of Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur borders. The action comes after clashes between farmers and police at the Haryana-Punjab Shambhu border and in Haryana’s Jind district on Tuesday, resulting in several injuries.
The advisory outlines alternate routes and diversions for the public. The NH-44 beyond the Singhu Border is closed, affecting other connected roads towards NH-44 – Sonipat/Panipat. However, two lanes of NH-9 and one lane of NH-24 at the Gazipur Border are open for general traffic. DND has two lanes open for commuters, but slow traffic movement is expected, especially during peak hours.
The traffic police have provided detailed detours for vehicular traffic heading towards Haryana on NH-44, advising drivers to use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and other specified routes to bypass the affected areas. The total detour distances vary from 39 km to 69 km, depending on the starting point.
Additionally, the advisory suggests routes for traffic coming from Ghaziabad towards Delhi, with entry points from Maharajpur Border near ISBT Anand Vihar and Khoda Colony, Mayur Vihar Phase-III. Traffic from Delhi to Ghaziabad through the Gazipur border is advised to use Pushta Road near Akshardham temple, Patparganj Road/Mother Dairy Road, or Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg ISBT Anand Vihar, exiting from Maharajpur or Apsara border in Ghaziabad.
The sealing of the borders and the traffic advisory reflect the heightened security measures and traffic management in response to the ongoing farmers’ protest, which has escalated tensions and disrupted normal traffic flow in and around the national capital.
