New Delhi (Agency): On Thursday, BJP Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao visited Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) in Visakhapatnam and lauded the Ministry of Defence’s recent order worth Rs 19,048 crore to build five naval fleet support ships over the next six years. He emphasized that this order will significantly improve HSL’s financial situation.
During his visit, Rao held discussions with HSL’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Cmde Hemant Khatri, regarding the company’s operations. He also toured the HSL premises and its extensive facilities.
Expressing his gratitude, the BJP MP thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for awarding the order, which he referred to as “the largest order ever received by the Hindustan Shipyard Limited.”
In addition to his visit to HSL, Rao also explored the ‘Bunker Museum,’ a historical site used by the armed forces during the Second World War.
Rao appealed to CMD Khatri to provide a significant number of internships, apprenticeships, and job opportunities to the local youth of Visakhapatnam. He also suggested organizing guided tours for school and college students from the region.
GVL Narasimha Rao, as a Union Minister, has been actively visiting various central government institutions and projects to increase public awareness and create better skill learning and employment opportunities for the youth of Visakhapatnam.
During his visit, Rao also discussed the issue of regularizing job opportunities for hundreds of employees currently working on fixed-tenure contracts at HSL.
