Agency (New Delhi): The Congress party has issued a stern warning to the BJP, cautioning of possible retaliation following the summons issued to Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader Revanth Reddy by the Delhi Police. This summons relates to a doctored video of Home Minister Amit Shah allegedly speaking against SC/ST reservations, which went viral on social media.
Revanth Reddy, along with five other Telangana Congress members, was directed to appear for questioning and to bring any electronic devices used to create, upload, or share the video on their social media accounts. The notices were delivered at the Chief Minister’s Office and the Gandhi Bhavan party office in Hyderabad.
In response, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate expressed the party’s readiness to initiate legal actions against BJP leaders in states not governed by the BJP, should these provocations continue. She emphasized Revanth Reddy’s resilience, referencing his past political challenges against the BRS and the BJP.
The BJP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, alleging that the video was circulated to disrupt the electoral process. Meanwhile, the arrest of Reetom Singh, a key figure in the Assam Congress, has sparked further controversy, with the party calling for his immediate release and condemning the move as undemocratic.
Revanth Reddy responded to the allegations at a rally in Karnataka, asserting that the party is unafraid and accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using the Delhi Police to influence election outcomes. He reassured supporters that the party is prepared to respond firmly to these actions.
Congress legal advisor Ramchandra Reddy disclosed that notices have been received for three leaders: Satish Manne, Asma Taslima, and Shivshankar, and that the party will review these documents before issuing a response. This situation underscores a growing tension between the two major political parties amidst the ongoing election campaign.
