Agency (New Delhi): As the Siddaramaiah-led government completed one year in office, the Congress announced on Monday that it has successfully implemented all guarantees made to the people of Karnataka. The party pledged to replicate this success nationwide under the ‘Paanch Nyay Pachees Guarantee’ if the INDIA bloc secures a clear mandate on June 4.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh highlighted the party’s commitment to delivering on its promises, stating, “It has now been one year of our government in Karnataka, where we have successfully implemented all guarantees made to the people. When the Congress and INDIA Janbandhan inevitably get the clear and convincing mandate of the people on June 4th, we will deliver again, by implementing our ‘Paanch Nyay Pachees Guarantee’.”
Ramesh summarized the achievements of the Karnataka government, including the ‘Gruhalakshmi’ scheme, which provides Rs. 2,000 monthly to 1.21 crore women heads of families to combat inflation and inequality. This scheme has resulted in a monthly allocation of Rs. 2,430 crore, with close to Rs. 23,365 crore spent to date.
Under the ‘Shakti’ scheme, 60 lakh women in Karnataka travel for free in buses daily, totaling approximately 210 crore free rides and costing around Rs. 5,096 crore. The ‘Annabhagya’ scheme, aimed at ending hunger, transfers 5 kg of free rice grain to 1.38 crore families and 4.08 crore beneficiaries.
Ramesh also mentioned other significant schemes such as ‘Yuvanidhi,’ which supports job-seeking youth by providing Rs. 3,000 per month to graduates and Rs. 1,500 per month to diploma holders, and ‘Gruhajyoti,’ which offers 200 units of free electricity benefiting over 1.67 crore families.
Many of the Congress’s signature guarantees for the Lok Sabha elections are modeled after the Karnataka initiatives. These include the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, which transfers Rs. 1 lakh per year directly to the account of one woman in each poor family, and the doubling of the free ration allowance under the National Food Security Act to 10 kg per person. The ‘Pehli Naukri Pakki’ guarantee promises a one-year apprenticeship with Rs. 1 lakh per year to all graduates and diploma holders.
“The Congress’s vision for India is being implemented in Karnataka today — freedom from hunger and from price rise, affordable healthcare, jobs for youth, and prosperity for all,” Ramesh emphasized.
The Congress has based its election campaign on ‘Paanch Nyay’ (Five Justices) — Yuva Nyay (Youth Justice), Naari Nyay (Women’s Justice), Shramik Nyay (Workers’ Justice), Kisaan Nyaya (Farmers’ Justice), and Hissedari Nyay (Participatory Justice) — under which it has promised 25 main guarantees for the people.
