Agency(New Delhi): The Congress party is set to make a historic pledge to the nation’s youth by promising the “right to employment” in its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This groundbreaking proposal aims to secure employment opportunities for young Indians, accompanied by considerations for an allowance. This announcement is anticipated during a public gathering at Badanawar, Madhya Pradesh, with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former chief Rahul Gandhi in attendance.
In response to the widespread issue of examination paper leaks, the Congress is also considering the introduction of stringent penalties for those found guilty, alongside proposals to enhance the transparency of governmental recruitment processes. This move is in line with concerns raised by Rahul Gandhi during the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, highlighting the adversities faced by students due to the frequent cancellation and rescheduling of exams.
The manifesto, awaiting approval from the Congress Working Committee, is expected to focus on the “5-nyay” pillars of justice, reflecting the party’s commitment to social welfare and justice as emphasized during Gandhi’s yatra. Additional promises include legal guarantees for minimum support prices for farmers, a caste-based census to identify governmental vacancies, and financial assistance for marginalized communities.
This strategy follows the successful implementation of similar promises in states like Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh, where Congress has recently gained power. The party’s manifesto committee, led by former Union Minister P Chidambaram, has concluded its deliberations, outlining a document that encompasses innovative solutions for unemployment, such as an apprenticeship scheme for youth.
The Congress manifesto is poised to address key societal issues, including youth empowerment, women’s rights, poverty alleviation, and agricultural reforms. It also aims to propose mechanisms for combating the prevalent issue of examination paper leaks and enhancing the transparency of public sector recruitments.
This commitment reflects the Congress’s vision for a more inclusive, just, and prosperous India, emphasizing the importance of ensuring employment opportunities, educational fairness, and social welfare for all citizens.
