Agency(New Delhi): Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticized the Congress party at a recent rally in Ajmer, Rajasthan, alleging that its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections is reminiscent of the Muslim League during the independence era. He claimed, “The Congress manifesto is a reflection of the Muslim League’s ideology, and whatever remains is heavily influenced by leftist thoughts. It seems to propagate the division of India.”
At the rally, Modi questioned the crowd about Congress’s ability to act in the national interest, which was met with a resounding “no” from the attendees. Modi continued his critique by stating that the current Congress lacks both principles and policies, suggesting that the party had outsourced its ideological foundation.
The Congress party had unveiled its manifesto last Friday, which includes several pledges such as the right to apprenticeship, a legal guarantee on the minimum support price for agricultural products, and an increase in the reservation limit to 50% for SCs, STs, and OBCs. These elections will see Rajasthan voting in two stages on April 19 and April 26. In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP dominated the region, winning 24 of the 25 available seats.
Additionally, while addressing another gathering in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Modi criticized the opposition’s coalition, which he claimed was primarily focused on preventing the BJP from securing over 370 seats. He contrasted the opposition’s motive of gaining commissions with the BJP’s mission-oriented approach under his governance.
Furthermore, Modi highlighted his government’s abolition of the triple talaq, asserting that this move has been pivotal in protecting Muslim women from this controversial practice, and expressed confidence that Muslim women would remember this act for generations.
This discussion reflects the heightened rhetoric as parties gear up for the Lok Sabha elections, with significant implications for various communities and political dynamics in the region.
