Agency (Karnataka): In a recent protest at Independence Park, BJP leader and Karnataka’s former Deputy Chief Minister, C N Ashwath Narayan, accused the Congress party of neglecting Bengaluru and branded it as “anti-Bengaluru.”
Narayan articulated his criticisms during the event, citing numerous urban management issues that have plagued the city under the Congress government. He listed problems such as widespread potholes, unmanaged garbage, encroachments on footpaths, lack of street lighting, and failures in maintaining law and order. According to him, these issues reflect the Congress party’s failure to cater to basic utilities and governance in the city.
Further elaborating on his critique, Narayan accused the Congress of exploiting the city’s residents by hiking various charges including electricity, water, bus fares, property taxes, and registration taxes. He argued that internal conflicts within the Congress leadership, specifically between the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, have led to these governance failures, leaving Bengaluru “completely neglected.”
Additionally, Narayan conveyed his message through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, “I participated in a massive protest organized today at the Independence Park against the misrule of the state Congress government, which is neglecting the development of the state capital Bangalore city and making it a place for bomb blasts and drug mafias.”
The BJP Karnataka also echoed Narayan’s sentiments on X, rallying Bangaloreans with a post that read: “Wake up Bangaloreans..! Let’s fight against the Congress government that forgot to develop, and tear down the incompetent government.”
