Agency (Bhopal): Buoyed by its landslide victory in the recent Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh has embarked on an ambitious campaign to secure all 29 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the upcoming general elections. The party, which had almost swept the last two general elections in 2014 and 2019, winning 27 and 28 seats respectively, is looking to replicate its success in the Lok Sabha elections following its dominant performance in the Assembly elections, where it won 163 out of 230 seats.
The BJP has launched two distinct campaigns: ‘Wall Writing’ and ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’, each with unique strategies to engage voters. The ‘Wall Writing’ campaign sees party leaders painting the party symbol and slogans such as ‘Ek Bar Fir Modi Sarkar’, while ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’ is a more grassroots-focused initiative.
The ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’ is particularly strategic, targeting new voters and areas where the BJP’s performance has been relatively weaker in recent elections. This multi-layered approach involves BJP leaders spending considerable time in villages, interacting with the populace, and integrating influential local figures into the party.
Senior BJP leader Narottam Mishra, who is spearheading the party’s efforts in the Sagar Lok Sabha region, highlighted the ‘key voters’ program as a central element of these campaigns. This initiative aims to identify and connect with influential individuals in various communities, including retired government officials, social workers, local artists, students, and farmers, who have a significant impact in their respective areas.
Under the ‘key voters’ program, booth-level workers are tasked with identifying such influential individuals and preparing a list. When prominent leaders visit these areas, these selected individuals will be recognized and integrated into the party fold, potentially enhancing the BJP’s influence and reach at the grassroots level.
The BJP’s strategic approach in Madhya Pradesh, combining traditional campaign methods with targeted local engagement, reflects its intent to solidify its electoral base and expand its influence in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. These efforts are seen as critical in securing a complete sweep of the Lok Sabha seats in the state, consolidating the party’s position in the national political landscape.
