Agency(New Delhi): Bihar’s newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary outlined his government’s primary objectives, focusing on increasing employment opportunities within the state and establishing robust law and order. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the youth of Bihar find work in their native state.
Choudhary’s comments come in the wake of a dramatic political shift in Bihar, where JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar, after departing from the Mahagathbandhan and the opposition INDIA bloc, formed a new government in alliance with the BJP. In this newly formed government, Choudhary, along with Vijay Kumar Sinha, was sworn in as one of the two Deputy Chief Ministers from the BJP. The oath ceremony also included six other ministers from various political affiliations.
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), now at the helm of the state, is committed to realizing the unfulfilled aspirations of the people under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar. He expressed confidence that the ‘double engine’ government would propel the state towards greater development.
Reflecting on the recent political developments, Nitish Kumar cited dissatisfaction with the functioning of the Mahagathbandhan alliance as the rationale behind his decision to form a new government. He mentioned receiving suggestions from various quarters, including party workers, which influenced his decision.
In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted the swift political transition in Bihar, contrasting it with the situation in Jharkhand. Kharge questioned the expedited process that saw Nitish Kumar resigning and then taking the oath as Chief Minister within 12 hours, suggesting a potential breach of constitutional norms.
This statement from the Deputy Chief Minister signifies a strategic shift in Bihar’s governance, focusing on internal development and law enforcement, vital for the state’s progress and stability.
