Agency(Ajanmagarh): In a significant announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the renaming of Azamgarh to ‘Ajanmagarh’ on Sunday, amidst the unveiling of various development projects exceeding Rs 3,700 crore. This renaming is seen as a step towards eradicating the town’s past affiliations and propelling it into a future marked by prosperity and growth.
PM Modi, in his address, highlighted the extensive developmental initiatives being rolled out across the country, emphasizing the construction of new airports, railway stations, and educational institutions like IIMs and AIIMS. Contrasting his administration’s approach with that of previous governments, he remarked, “Modi doosri mitti ka insaan hai,” indicating his unique commitment to the country’s progress.
The Prime Minister reassured that the groundwork laid in 2019 wasn’t mere electoral promises but part of a broader vision to achieve a ‘Viksit’ India by 2047. He affirmed that the developmental projects inaugurated are a testament to his relentless drive for national advancement, distancing these achievements from being perceived as election stunts.
Reflecting on the transformative change in Azamgarh, Modi pointed out the eradication of mafia dominance and the establishment of law and order, attributing these successes to his government’s policies. He took a stance against the politics of appeasement, asserting, “The entire country is Modi’s family,” challenging the criticisms targeted at him by dynastic political factions.
Emphasizing urbanization, the Prime Minister remarked on the strides made in tier 2 and 3 cities under his governance, which have led to increased opportunities for the youth and a reversal of the region’s historical backwardness. Azamgarh, now ‘Ajanmagarh’, is envisioned as a stronghold of development, shedding its former reputation as a nexus of criminal activities.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath echoed Modi’s sentiments, lauding the transformation from a town once synonymous with mafia rule to a center of modern infrastructure and development under the Prime Minister’s guidance.
The development spree included the inauguration of numerous initiatives, with a significant emphasis on enhancing the civil aviation sector through the introduction of new airport projects and terminal buildings across India. Additionally, PM Modi launched the Light House Project (LHP) for affordable housing and dedicated numerous rural road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, enriching the lives of countless citizens across Uttar Pradesh and marking a milestone in the state’s journey towards comprehensive development.
