Mumbai, Maharashtra: In a significant gesture of solidarity, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has donated ₹1.25 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support farmers affected by the recent heavy rainfall across Maharashtra.

According to an official release, MCA President Ajinkya Naik presented the cheque to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The donation includes ₹1 crore contributed by the association and an additional ₹25 lakh raised by senior players from the Mumbai cricket team.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajinkya Naik stated, “The Mumbai Cricket Association has always believed in supporting the people of Maharashtra in times of crisis. This contribution reflects our collective commitment—from both the association and our players—to assist the farming community during this challenging period.”

The donation comes in the wake of widespread crop damage caused by heavy rains and floods across the state. Chief Minister Fadnavis had earlier announced a comprehensive relief package worth ₹31,628 crore for the affected farmers. As part of the aid, farmers will receive ₹10,000 in immediate cash assistance.

The Chief Minister noted that over 68 lakh hectares of crops were damaged, affecting 29 out of the 36 districts in Maharashtra. A total of 253 talukas and 2,059 revenue circles fall under the relief scheme.

The government’s compensation plan includes ₹47,000 per hectare in direct financial support, with an additional ₹3 lakh per hectare to be made available under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
