Mumbai: The much-anticipated sequel to the 1997 war epic Border is gaining momentum as Border 2 enters its third shooting schedule at Pune’s prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA). Joining the lead cast for this phase are actors Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, alongside Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is being positioned as a grand tribute to the legacy of the original film. The latest update was shared by Sunny Deol via Instagram, where he posted a group photo featuring himself, Diljit, Varun, and Ahan, as well as producers Nidhi Dutta and Bhushan Kumar.
In the caption, Deol wrote, “When all ‘Forces’ come together! #BORDER2. Diljit Dosanjh & Ahan Shetty join Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan as the battalion kicks off the 3rd schedule at Pune’s National Defence Academy!”
He also confirmed that producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, director Anurag Singh, and co-producers Shiv Chanana and Binoy Gandhi are all on the ground as the film’s production moves “full throttle”. The film is slated for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026.
Border 2 is being presented by Gulshan Kumar’s T-Series in association with JP Dutta’s JP Films. The powerhouse production team includes Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.
The film also received notable backing from the Uttarakhand Film Vikas Parishad. On May 20, CEO Banshidhar Tiwari visited the Dehradun set during the film’s earlier schedule at the Halduwala location. He met with Sunny Deol and discussed the state’s progressive film policy, its scenic versatility, and the government’s efforts to support filmmaking in the region.
Tiwari expressed satisfaction with the environment provided to the film unit, stating, “The kind of positive and comfortable environment the film unit is getting here makes the state a strong destination for film production.”
With an ensemble cast, experienced direction, and strong production support, Border 2 is already building strong anticipation ahead of its 2026 release.
