Bhopal, April 13: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, on Monday approved development and public welfare projects worth approximately ₹19,810 crore during a meeting at the Mantralaya.

Key approvals span multiple sectors including infrastructure, irrigation, agriculture, healthcare, and social welfare.

A major decision includes ₹286.26 crore for the Midwasa Medium Irrigation Project in Sagar district, which is expected to irrigate about 7,200 hectares across 27 villages, benefiting farmers in the region.

The Public Works Department received the largest allocation of ₹10,801 crore. This includes ₹150 crore for BOT road development and supervision, ₹765 crore for BOT project payments, ₹4,564 crore for annuity payments, and ₹5,322 crore for externally aided road development projects.

Under rural development, ₹3,553.35 crore was approved for schemes such as the Mid-Day Meal and PM Poshan Shakti programme for the period 2026–2031.

The Cabinet also sanctioned ₹2,250 crore for the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation (SMAM), aimed at boosting farm mechanisation, supporting rural youth through custom hiring centres, promoting crop residue management, and offering subsidies on basic farming tools.

In the healthcare sector, ₹1,674 crore was approved to establish new medical colleges linked with district hospitals over the next five years. Additionally, ₹1,005 crore was allocated to continue health services under the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department until 2031.
