Srinagar: The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit of the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a series of coordinated raids across various locations in the Kashmir Valley on Friday, as part of an ongoing probe into suspected links with terrorist organisations.
In an official statement, the CIK revealed that the operations were aimed at identifying and dismantling terror networks operating in the region. The searches, conducted at undisclosed sites, resulted in the seizure of crucial evidence connected to extremist elements. Authorities have also heightened security in sensitive zones as a preventive measure.
These operations are part of a broader security campaign to curb rising terror-related activities in the Valley, following recent incidents that have raised alarms over potential threats to regional peace and stability.
Meanwhile, on May 23, in a parallel crackdown on terror infrastructure, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out synchronised raids at 18 different locations across four districts of Jammu province. The large-scale operation was focused on dismantling sleeper cells and disrupting the broader terror support network.
According to official sources, the majority of the raids—twelve in total—were conducted in the Surankote subdivision, while three took place in the Havelitehsil of Poonch district. Additional operations were carried out in Rajouri town, Ramnagar in Udhampur district, and one in Ramban district.
Substantial quantities of incriminating material were recovered during the raids and secured according to legal protocols. Investigative teams are currently examining the seized evidence, and several individuals have been summoned to appear for questioning at SIA Jammu.
Officials stated that the raids were driven by actionable intelligence and sustained surveillance, emphasising the agencies’ determination to dismantle the covert networks aiding terror operations in the region.
Both the CIK and SIA reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism and safeguarding the region’s stability. Investigations into both operations remain ongoing.
