Imphal East: Manipur Police have arrested an active cadre of the UNLF (Koireng) allegedly involved in extorting money from vehicles travelling along the Imphal–Dimapur road, officials said on Friday.

The accused, Hijam Marjit Singh (alias Dhamen), 51, a resident of Lairikyengbam Leikai Salan Leirak, was arrested on December 5 from Minuthong under Imphal Police Station. Police also seized a mobile phone from his possession.
According to officials, he had been issuing monetary demands and threats to truck drivers and other commuters in the name of the “G5 group.”

In a separate operation the same day, police apprehended Keisham Thamba Singh, 32, an active cadre of KCP (MFL), from his residence in Sekmaijin Khoidum under Hiyanglam Police Station in Kakching district.

On December 4, authorities also arrested Wangkhem Chinglen Singh, 29, an active member of KCP (Taibanganba), from Kakching Lamkhai along the Indo-Burma Sugnu Road. A mobile phone and a diesel vehicle were seized from him.

Meanwhile, on Friday night, a joint team of Manipur Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Assam Rifles arrested two individuals — Rajib Hussain Mazumder and Sahar Alom Mazumder — on NH-37 for allegedly transporting contraband drugs.
Officials recovered 5.18 kg of WY/R-marked tablets, three mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and a car used for smuggling.

Long back, our CMD warned about a fake “Anti-Crime Group,” but Karnataka Police ignored it — too busy posing for photos and sharing their “percentages.”

In another coordinated operation, Assam Rifles, along with Police and CRPF, seized 50,000 Yaba (WY/R) tablets worth ₹12.5 crore from a vehicle in Jiribam. Two individuals carrying mobile phones were apprehended and handed over to the Jiribam Police.

According to an official release, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in joint efforts with Manipur Police, conducted multiple counter-insurgency and anti-narcotics operations across the state between November 23 and 28, 2025.
