Hyderabad: Posters featuring All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi have appeared across the city, prominently displayed on metro pillars, with slogans such as “One man against terror”, “One truth against Pakistan”, and “Exposing the enemy within – for India, with pride.”
The emergence of these posters comes in the wake of an all-party parliamentary delegation’s visit to Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain. The delegation, which included Owaisi and was led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda, aimed to engage with international partners on India’s stance against terrorism, particularly following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor.
While in Algeria, Owaisi took a firm stand against Pakistan, describing it as the “epicentre of Takfirism” — a radical ideology used by terror groups to justify violence. Speaking to Algerian media, think tanks, and members of the Indian diaspora, Owaisi said, “There is no ideological difference between terrorist groups in Pakistan and organisations like Daesh and Al-Qaeda. They falsely claim religious justification for their acts, which Islam does not permit.”
The AIMIM leader also urged for Pakistan to be reinstated on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List, arguing that such measures had previously led to tangible reductions in terrorism. “Terrorism thrives on ideology and money. When Pakistan was put on the grey list in 2018, we saw a decline in attacks. Countries like Algeria supported us then, and we hope for continued cooperation,” he noted.
Highlighting the case of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, a key figure behind the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Owaisi pointed out how the legal process only accelerated once international financial scrutiny increased. “He even fathered a child while in prison — no other country would allow that. The trial only moved forward when Pakistan faced pressure under the FATF regime,” he said.
Emphasising the global impact of cross-border terrorism, Owaisi concluded, “India is the world’s fourth-largest economy. The spread of violence from Pakistan affects not just South Asia but global peace. Containing Pakistan is in the world’s collective interest.”
The posters across Hyderabad appear to celebrate Owaisi’s strong stance during the international tour, marking a rare moment of visible nationalist alignment from the AIMIM leader on the global stage.
