New Delhi (Agency): Starting in September, devotees from India will be able to visit Mount Kailash, known as the home of Lord Shiva. This has been made possible due to road construction currently in progress by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
BRO has begun the task of building a road that extends from KMVN Huts in Nabhidhang, located in the Pithoragarh district, to Lipulekh pass on the India-China border. The project is slated for completion by September.
Vimal Goswami, the Chief Engineer of BRO’s Diamond Project, said, “We have started the work of cutting the road from KMVN Huts to Lipulekh Pass in Nabhidhang, about six and a half kilometres long.” After this road is finished, a ‘Kailash View Point’ will be created along the road. The Indian government has assigned the task of developing this ‘Kailash View Point’ to the Hirak Project.
Goswami also mentioned that a significant amount of road-cutting work has been completed. If the weather conditions are favorable, the whole project is expected to be finished by September.
The Kailash-Mansarovar yatra, a holy pilgrimage through the Lipulekh Pass, has been on hold due to the Covid pandemic. This delay has led the Indian government to create an alternative route for devotees to reach Mount Kailash.
