New Delhi (Agency): This Sunday, Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha will be launching a weekend tourism hub at the iconic Ujjayanta Palace. In a recent press conference, the state’s Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury made this announcement, adding that the area surrounding the palace would be designated a no-traffic zone during the weekends.
“Chief Minister Manik Saha will inaugurate the weekend tourism hub at Ujjayanta Palace on Sunday,” Chowdhury declared. The aim is to make a significant push for tourism promotion in the state, with this hub being the start of many initiatives to come.
As part of the tourism promotion strategy, the state has secured the partnership of renowned cricket personality Saurav Ganguly, who will be the brand ambassador for Tripura’s tourism.
The new hub will offer an exciting array of attractions for visitors. Chowdhury revealed that a 20-minute light and sound show would be a key feature of the hub. Additionally, a boating facility will be made available for tourists at the lake within the palace compound. He also mentioned that food stalls would be set up on both sides of the roads for the convenience of the visitors.
Tripura’s vision is to make a name for itself on the global tourism map. Already, the Asian Development Bank has approved a grant of Rs 58.61 crore to rejuvenate Chhabimura’s unique rock works in Gomati district. Chowdhury further disclosed that the central government has agreed to contribute Rs 70 crore each for the enhancement of tourism spots in Agartala and Unakoti under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
In his closing remarks, Chowdhury expressed optimism about the state’s tourism prospects. He stated, “Once all the infrastructure is ready, tourism will boom in Tripura. On the other side, Ganguly will start working for promoting the state’s tourism industry shortly.”
