Agency(New Delhi): In a significant move to bolster India’s healthcare landscape, the Union Minister for AYUSH and Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, together with the Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, are poised to unveil the Ayush-ICMR Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research (AI-ACIHR) at four prestigious AIIMS locations and initiate a multicentre clinical trial on Anaemia. This groundbreaking event is scheduled for tomorrow. Additionally, the ministers will introduce the Indian Public Health Standards for Ayush healthcare facilities and engage in the 27th Convocation of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth.
The AI-ACIHR is set to establish its presence across four AIIMS institutions, each focusing on a distinct area of healthcare.
At AIIMS Delhi, there will be two centres: one dedicated to Gastro-intestinal Disorders and another to Women and Child Health. AIIMS Jodhpur and AIIMS Rishikesh will each host a centre for Geriatric Health. AIIMS Nagpur will focus on Cancer Care.
The announcement regarding the multicentre clinical trial on Anaemia highlights the collaborative effort between CCRAS under the Ministry of Ayush and ICMR. This study, titled “Efficacy and safety of Punarnavadi Mandura alone and in combination with Drakshavaleha compared to iron folic acid in the treatment of moderate iron deficiency anaemia among non-pregnant women of reproductive age group: a community-based three arm multicenter randomized controlled trial,” will take place across eight different locations.
Furthermore, the launch of the Indian Public Health Standards for Ayush Health Care facilities is aimed at establishing uniform Standards & quality in infrastructure, human resources, and medicines across States and UTs, thereby enhancing Ayush healthcare services’ reach and quality to the population. This initiative aligns with the principles of Pluralism as emphasized in the National Health Policy (NHP) 2017.
The inauguration of the 27th Convocation & 29th National Seminar of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth marks another key milestone. It will see the awarding of CRAV certificates to 201 shishyas under the Guru shishya Parampara, recognition of eminent vaidyas with the Fellow of RAV (FRAV) award, and the presentation of Lifetime Achievement awards for significant contributions to Ayurveda. The event will also include a Welcoming ceremony for new CRAV students for the batch 2024-25 and a Two Day National Seminar focusing on Ayurveda’s role in one health, post-COVID health management, and immunity enhancement.
This series of initiatives and launches represents a significant leap towards integrating traditional healthcare methodologies with modern medical research, ultimately enriching India’s health and wellness landscape.
