Agency(New Delhi): Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, marked a significant advancement in India’s healthcare infrastructure by inaugurating 24 health facilities across various All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) locations including Bilaspur, Rishikesh, Gorakhpur, Nagpur, Bhubaneshwar, Deoghar. Additionally, he laid the cornerstone for 68 new health services at AIIMS Jodhpur. This initiative took place during the 4th convocation ceremony of AIIMS Jodhpur in Rajasthan.
The event saw the presence of notable dignitaries including Rajasthan’s Chief Minister, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Rajasthan Health Minister, Shri Gajendra Singh Khimsar, and Rajya Sabha MP, Shri Rajendra Gehlot.
Dr. Mandaviya, along with Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, also inaugurated five Sub-Health Centres under the National Health Mission, and 63 projects funded by the 15th Finance Commission through the National Health Mission civil wing. These projects include seven Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, two hospitals with residential housing, three hospitals with newly constructed MNC units, two hospitals featuring new delivery rooms, four Jan Aushadhi Centres, three BPHU rooms, and 42 sub-health centers. The Prime Minister-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission financially supports these projects. Additionally, the S.M.S Medical College in Jaipur will undergo an upgrade under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, adding new divisions in cardiology, neurology, nephrology, neuro-surgery, and medical gerontology.
The newly inaugurated health infrastructure includes a Dharamshala at AIIMS Bhubaneshwar, a trauma center, a Dual Energy Linear Accelerator for cancer treatment, a Cardiac Cath Lab at AIIMS Bilaspur, MRI facility at AIIMS Devipur, a girls’ hostel, a night shelter, a shopping complex, and Jan Aushadhi Kendras at AIIMS Gorakhpur. AIIMS Jodhpur saw the inauguration of a Modal Early Intervention Centre for Neonatology, a Comprehensive Lactation Management Centre, PET – CT + SPECT – CT facilities, a BSL – 3 Lab, student hostels, a Student Activity Centre, and faculty houses. AIIMS Nagpur introduced a CSST service and a Skill Lab, while AIIMS Rishikesh established a Trauma ICU and a School of Public Health.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to healthcare, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the Prime Minister’s vision of Ayushman Bharat, aimed at making health facilities affordable, accessible, and available to every citizen. He noted the significant expansion in medical education and the establishment of new AIIMS institutes and Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs. The use of digital mediums like eSanjeevni and Tele-MANAS was also highlighted for extending healthcare services to remote areas.
Dr. Mandaviya also mentioned significant health initiatives like the Sickle Cell Elimination Program and the TB Free India campaign, aligning with the Ayushman Bharat goals. Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat praised these initiatives, acknowledging their profound impact on national healthcare.
The convocation ceremony also included the distribution of degrees and gold medals to meritorious students. The event was attended by senior government officials, AIIMS executives, faculty, and students.
