Agency (New Delhi): Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) officials have responded to consumer complaints by collecting food samples from a McDonald’s outlet and Theobroma bakery in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. These actions were triggered by reports of consumers falling ill after consuming food from these locations.
A consumer reported sickness after eating a burger and french fries from the McDonald’s at Noida Sector 18, prompting the FDA team from Gautam Buddh Nagar to investigate and collect samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise used in the food preparation. Archana Dheeran, Assistant Commissioner (Food) of FDA, noted that the complaint was lodged via the Food Safety Connect portal managed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
In a separate incident, another complaint was made against Theobroma bakery in Sector 104, where a consumer alleged illness after consuming a stale pineapple cake. FDA officials have since taken a sample of the cake for analysis.
Dheeran stated that the laboratory results for these samples are expected within a month. If the analysis shows that the food products fail to meet safety standards, legal actions will be initiated, and a formal case will be registered against the implicated outlets. These measures highlight the FDA’s commitment to upholding food safety and addressing public health concerns promptly.
