Mumbai: IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory for passengers departing from Mumbai, as the city grapples with heavy rainfall and widespread waterlogging. The inclement weather has caused severe traffic disruptions on multiple routes leading to the airport, resulting in delays to both flight departures and arrivals.

The advisory urges passengers to plan their travel to the airport accordingly, recommending that they leave well in advance and regularly check their flight status through the IndiGo mobile app or official website.

“With Mumbai drenched in heavy showers, several routes to the airport are witnessing waterlogging and sluggish traffic. This has, in turn, led to operational challenges, with delays in both departures and arrivals. We truly regret the inconvenience this may cause,” the airline stated.

IndiGo emphasized that its teams are actively monitoring the situation and working to minimize disruptions. “Your safety, comfort, and peace of mind remain our top priority. We deeply value your patience and understanding during this time,” the airline added.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Mumbai, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also issued a public warning, noting that the state has received widespread rainfall in the past two days, with Mumbai alone receiving 177 mm of rain within a span of just 6 to 8 hours.

The CM urged citizens to remain cautious, as further rainfall and high tides are expected. Red and Orange alerts are currently active for several districts, including Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad, and are likely to remain in effect until August 21.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, with precautionary measures being discussed to mitigate risks and ensure public safety.
