New Delhi— Amid escalating tensions in West Asia following U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, BJP MP Dinesh Sharma on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a global leader, asserting that countries across the world trust and value his leadership.
“At this time, every country in the world is looking towards a world leader, and that name is PM Narendra Modi,” Sharma said. “His words carry global weight. People believe in him and will continue to do so.”
The remarks come in response to PM Modi’s recent phone call with newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The conversation, which reportedly lasted 45 minutes, focused on the evolving regional crisis. Modi expressed India’s deep concern over recent escalations and reiterated the importance of de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy.
President Pezeshkian reportedly initiated the call and described India as a key partner in promoting peace and stability in the region. He thanked Modi for India’s consistent stance on resolving conflicts through peaceful means.
Following the conversation, PM Modi posted on social media platform X:
“Spoke with the President of Iran, @drpezeshkian. We discussed in detail the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations. Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security, and stability.”
The diplomatic outreach came on the heels of U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement on Sunday that the U.S. had launched “massive precision” strikes on three underground nuclear sites in Iran. Trump warned of further retaliation unless peace was restored.
As tensions continue to mount, India’s call for restraint and dialogue appears to be gaining attention, with its diplomatic voice being acknowledged as a stabilizing force in the region.
