New Delhi (Agency): Western Railway has announced the cancellation of 36 trains that originate from or pass through Ahmedabad in Gujarat on their way to Mumbai. The cancellations are scheduled between August 25 and 28 and are necessary due to non-interlocking work planned near the Surat station.
The non-interlocking work, which will occur from August 26 to 28, is part of a plan to provide a third line between Surat and Udhna stations in south Gujarat. This work is essential for improving rail infrastructure and enhancing connectivity.
Among the trains affected by the cancellation are the Bhuj-Bandra Express, Ajmer-Dadar Express, Dadar-Ahmedabad Express, and Mumbai Central-Hapa Express. Passengers planning to travel on these dates should make alternative arrangements or check with Western Railway for updates.
In addition to the cancellations, one train has been short-terminated, another will short-originate, and a couple of trains have been diverted or rescheduled. Specifically, the Nagpur-Ahmedabad Express scheduled for August 26 and 27 has been given a diversion, and the Dadar-Porbandar Express on August 28 has been rescheduled.
The decision to carry out non-interlocking work and the subsequent train cancellations highlight the ongoing efforts by Western Railway to enhance and modernize the rail network. While this may cause temporary inconvenience to travelers, the long-term benefits of improved rail connectivity and safety are likely to be appreciated by the public in the future.
