This service, operated under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, was launched in a program organized by the Civil Aviation Department at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Expressing gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, CM Dhami stated that the service had been long-awaited. It is expected to not only connect remote areas but also facilitate people’s movement and provide an effective means for relief and rescue operations during emergencies. Furthermore, it is anticipated to aid in tourism and transportation in various tourist areas.
Reflecting on the COVID-19 period, Dhami highlighted that the service could also facilitate reverse migration, helping repopulate mountain villages and restore their former glory. He mentioned the recent inauguration of the new terminal at Jollygrant Airport and upcoming operations on routes like Dehradun-Amritsar, Dehradun-Pantnagar, and Dehradun-Ayodhya, enhancing air connectivity in the region. Additionally, heli services to places like Trijuginarayan and Lansdowne are planned.
The Chief Minister emphasized the potential of these services to boost tourism and create job opportunities. He also noted that fixed-wing aircraft services from Dehradun to Pithoragarh, which began on January 30, 2024, offer a new travel option for people in border areas.
Underlining the government’s efforts, Dhami mentioned the development of Jolly Grant Airport to international standards and plans to elevate Pantnagar Airport similarly. The introduction of “Joy Ride Service” and “Himalayan Darshan” will further promote tourism in the state’s scenic areas.
Emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, CM Dhami spoke of India entering a new era of development, with significant progress in improving the common man’s life and alleviating poverty. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing civil aviation in Uttarakhand, working towards making it the best state in every field.
