Bengaluru (Agency): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda has launched a scathing attack on the INDIA bloc over allegations of corruption, during a public meeting in Gondia, Maharashtra. He criticized the opposition for their legal troubles, stating, “Half are on bail, half are in jail,” and challenged the electorate to choose whether corrupt politicians should be punished in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Nadda contrasted the Modi administration’s anti-corruption stance with the opposition’s alleged protective approach towards corrupt members. He listed several high-profile scams associated with various opposition leaders and parties, including the Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and others, to emphasize his point.
In addition to addressing corruption, Nadda praised Prime Minister Modi’s transformative impact on Indian politics over the past decade, particularly highlighting his shift from identity-based politics to development-focused governance (‘Vikasvaad’). He noted Modi’s contributions to changing Madhya Pradesh from a ‘BIMARU’ state to a progressive one under BJP’s long-term governance.
This rally in Maharashtra, which has a significant number of Lok Sabha seats, is part of BJP’s broader campaign efforts. The state’s elections are scheduled in five phases from April 19 to May 20, with the results to be announced on June 4. Nadda’s remarks underline the party’s strategy to frame the election as a choice between governance and alleged corruption.
