Lucknow (Agency): The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police reported on Wednesday that they have arrested four individuals for their alleged involvement in running an illegal arms factory in Ghaziabad.
The suspects, identified as Shahfahad, Shadiq, Sivam, and Javed, were apprehended on Tuesday around 6 pm in the Madhuvan Bapudham police station area.
The STF team made a significant seizure during the operation, recovering one pistol each of .30 bore and .32 bore, along with 12 half-made .30 bore pistols, live cartridges, Rs 1.58 lakh in cash, an SUV, and a bike from the location.
According to the STF, the gang was engaged in selling these illegal firearms in the western regions of Uttar Pradesh, charging Rs 1 lakh for .30 pistols.
During the interrogation, the accused disclosed that their illicit arms factory had been registered under the name of “SHR India Industries Limited,” a front for manufacturing machinery parts. However, they were using the factory’s equipment to produce illegal weapons.
The police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter to uncover further details about the operations of the illicit arms factory.
