New Delhi (Agency): Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has lauded hydrogen as a “futuristic” fuel and expressed confidence that Madhya Pradesh will become a key player in green hydrogen production, akin to its success in agriculture under BJP governance. Speaking at a public gathering while inaugurating the Jan Ashirward Yatra in Khandwa, Gadkari commended Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the state’s consistent top position in agricultural production for seven consecutive terms.
Madhya Pradesh has made significant strides in producing thermal, hydro, wind, and solar power on a national scale. Gadkari proposed the establishment of electrolyzers near solar power facilities to generate green hydrogen from water. He anticipates that Madhya Pradesh will excel in green hydrogen production, transforming farmers from mere food grain producers into major energy contributors.
Gadkari emphasized that the country’s expenditure of Rs 16 lakh crore on fuel imports could be redirected to support farmers’ efforts in producing green fuel. He revealed his personal use of a hydrogen-powered car in Delhi and predicted that hydrogen would revolutionize industries and the automotive sector by replacing coal and oil.
Acknowledging Chouhan’s leadership, Gadkari stated that Madhya Pradesh, once considered a lagging state (BIMARU), has been transformed into a progressive state through increased irrigation potential and agricultural production.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has achieved a historic milestone by utilizing biofuels produced by farmers in aviation and automobiles, effectively turning farmers into energy suppliers.
Gadkari advocated for rural development on par with smart cities and praised Chouhan for providing 44 lakh houses to beneficiaries under the PM Awas Yojna. He highlighted the significant increase in the number of medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh during BJP rule.
The Union Minister acknowledged the consistent supply of 24-hour power, quality roads, and drinking water under PM Modi’s leadership. He subtly contrasted the current road network with the poor road conditions before 2003, attributing the improvement to the BJP government.
Gadkari urged the people to support the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections to continue the state’s development, particularly benefiting villages, the underprivileged, and farmers.
The event also featured speeches by Chief Minister Chouhan and Madhya Pradesh BJP President VD Sharma. Gadkari approved a ring road project for Khandwa and ordered a feasibility study for another as requested by local MP Gyaneshwar Patil.
He informed the audience about the construction of the Rs 18,000 crore Indore-Hyderabad Road and the Delhi-Mumbai highway, which would significantly reduce travel times between various cities in the state.
Gadkari’s remarks reflect the growing emphasis on green hydrogen as a cleaner and sustainable energy source, with Madhya Pradesh poised to play a significant role in its production.
