Agency(Tirupati): Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, virtually addressed the 4th and 5th convocation ceremony of IIT Tirupati. During the event, he inaugurated the Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the institute, developed in collaboration with SIEMENS and Wipro, focusing on “Smart Manufacturing and EV Technologies.”
Shri Pradhan congratulated the graduates and expressed confidence that the students of IIT Tirupati would emerge as wealth creators, significantly contributing to the goal of Viksit Bharat. He praised the institute’s dedication to innovation and interdisciplinary research, highlighting its potential to act as a catalyst for socio-economic change and channel the energy of India’s youth for global well-being and humanity’s service.
IIT Tirupati, established in 2015, is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Education and an Institute of National Importance as per the Act of Parliament of India. It began functioning with the support of IIT Madras in the 2015-16 academic year. The institute offers B.Tech programs in various engineering disciplines, along with MS, PhD, M.Tech, M.Sc, and the recently added Master of Public Policy (MPP) program.
The inauguration of the CoE and the Minister’s address underscore the importance of technical education and research in driving India’s progress towards becoming a developed nation. The focus on smart manufacturing and EV technologies aligns with national priorities in technology and sustainable development.
