New Delhi (Agency): This directive was issued by the bench comprising Justice Satish Chander Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula. The court has also asked Delhi Police about their plans for investigating the victim’s claims that she was also abused by other individuals. In response, Delhi Police indicated that this aspect is under investigation.
Khakha, 51, was an official in the Delhi government’s Women and Child Development Department. He was arrested last week, along with his wife, Seema Rani, 50, for allegedly raping the minor girl over several months and causing her to become pregnant. His wife is accused of giving the girl abortion pills. Both are currently in judicial custody until September 6.
The health condition of the minor victim is reportedly critical, and she suffered a seizure on Sunday. The court also heard from the counsel of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), who informed that the commission is also monitoring the case. Some discrepancies in following the rules have been noted by the NCPCR.
The accused were sent to judicial custody recently, and the trial court has called for a medical examination report related to Khakha’s vasectomy. Advocate U S Gautam, who represents Khakha, has claimed that the allegations about impregnating the victim are baseless. He stated that his client had undergone a vasectomy and that all other tests, including a potency test, were completed by the police within 24 hours of the arrest.
Khakha, who served as the Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department, was suspended last week following his arrest. The Delhi Police has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) covering various charges, including rape, molestation, and criminal conspiracy, among others.
