New Delhi (Agency): Air Commodore Sagar Singh Rawat has taken over the command of Jammu Air Force Station, succeeding Air Commodore Gurjot Singh Bhullar. In a ceremony held on Monday, Bhullar handed over the command to Rawat, who has a distinguished career as a helicopter pilot.
Rawat assumed command during challenging times, marked by a drone attack on the air base and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, he played a pivotal role in strengthening the base’s security and repelling threats to nearby bases.
Under Rawat’s leadership, the Air Force Station Jammu witnessed significant developments. The state-of-the-art Air Force School was inaugurated, providing quality education to children from all walks of life in Jammu. The school was recognized as the best Atal tinkering lab in the Jammu and Kashmir region.
Additionally, the runway was extended to 8000 ft, enabling larger aircraft to operate in the city. Rawat’s tenure also saw the commencement of fighter operations at the base after a gap of five decades, providing a strategic boost to the Indian Air Force.
During the ceremony, Rawat paid homage to fallen heroes Flt Lt Advitiva Bal and Fg Offr Vaibhay Bhagwat, by dedicating a state-of-the-art conference room in their names.
