New Delhi (Agency): Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India, June 27 – The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Brajesh Pathak, who also handles the health portfolio, has overseen the cancellation of the operating license of M Khan Hospital in Bareilly. The action follows an unfortunate incident involving the incorrect surgical procedure on a toddler.
The unwarranted event that brought about this severe decision was a wrongful surgery performed on a three-year-old boy. Instead of the scheduled tongue surgery, the child was wrongly circumcised at the hospital. Following the incident, the distraught family promptly reported the matter to local authorities.
“If the complaint is found correct, orders have been given to the CMO, Bareilly, to register an FIR against the guilty doctor and hospital management, to cancel the registration of the said hospital with immediate effect, and to make the complete report of the proceedings available within 24 hours,” Deputy CM Pathak pronounced in a recent tweet.
Upon public revelation of the incident, numerous local Hindu organizations descended upon the hospital, voicing their protest against the unsolicited circumcision. Acknowledging the severity of the incident, Deputy CM Pathak instructed the Chief Medical Officer of Bareilly, Dr. Balbir Singh, to initiate an investigation.
Dr. Singh and his team of doctors thoroughly scrutinized the situation, gathering statements from both the implicated medical staff and the victim’s family. They also secured all pertinent documents from the hospital as part of their investigation.
The result of this inquiry was the suspension of M Khan Hospital’s license, effectively revoking its ability to operate. This drastic move underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining high standards in the medical sector and safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of its patients.
The investigation is still ongoing, aiming to fully ascertain the sequence of events that led to this deeply regrettable incident. Authorities are committed to holding the responsible parties accountable to ensure such a mishap does not recur in the future.
