New Delhi (Agency): In a milestone ruling in the infamous Tabrez Ansari lynching case of June 2019, a court in Seraikela-Kharswan district, Jharkhand, has sentenced 10 individuals to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. The event involved Ansari, who had been accused of stealing a motorcycle, getting brutally assaulted by a mob. A video had captured him being seemingly forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Jai Hanuman’ in Jharkhand’s Saraikela Kharsawan district before his eventual demise.
Additional District Judge-I, Amit Shekhar, found the ten guilty while acquitting two other accused parties due to a lack of compelling evidence on June 27. The court finalized and delivered the extent of their punishment this Wednesday.
