Review Overview

The Aryavarth Express: New Delhi, India:Prime Minister Narendra Modion Tuesday urged the global community to unite in support of peace, dialogue, and diplomacy as the ongoing conflict in West Asia continues to disrupt global trade, energy supplies, and threaten the safety of millions of Indians abroad.

Addressing the Rajya Sabha, he said the conflict—now in its fourth week—has triggered a serious global energy crisis. India, he noted, is facing disruptions in key trade routes, affecting the steady supply of petrol, diesel, gas, and fertilisers.

The Prime Minister highlighted India’s active diplomatic outreach, stating that he has held multiple discussions with leaders from Iran, Israel, Gulf nations, and the United States to push for de-escalation.

He emphasized that the safety of nearly one crore Indians living and working in Gulf countries remains a top priority. Concerns have also increased over ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, many carrying Indian crew members.

According to him, more than 375,000 Indians have been safely evacuated since the conflict began, including over 1,000 from Iran—many of them students. He reaffirmed that protecting Indian citizens, both at home and abroad, remains the government’s foremost responsibility.

Calling for an immediate peaceful resolution, he stressed that any threat to human life is against humanity’s interests and that dialogue remains the only viable solution.

The conflict intensified after the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in joint strikes by the United States and Israel on February 28. In retaliation, Iran targeted US and Israeli assets across the Gulf, further destabilizing the region and disrupting critical shipping routes.

Amid rising tensions, reports suggest that Iranian leadership, including Mojtaba Khamenei, may be open to negotiations with the United States, offering a potential window for diplomacy despite ongoing hostilities.
