Udhampur: In response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force (JKSDRF) unit in Udhampur has been placed on high alert and has intensified its preparedness measures.
Known for being the frontline responders during both natural and man-made emergencies, the JKSDRF has a critical role in ensuring public safety in Jammu and Kashmir. Whether responding to floods, earthquakes, or crisis situations caused by human activity, the force is renowned for its swift action and effective risk mitigation.
Following the Pahalgam attack, the Udhampur unit has significantly enhanced its training operations. Personnel are undergoing rigorous drills focusing on combat readiness, rescue operations, and comprehensive disaster response strategies. The objective is to ensure rapid, coordinated, and effective responses to any potential threat.
Inspector Ankeshwar Nath of the JKSDRF Udhampur “Our personnel are well-trained for high-pressure situations. Since the incident in Pahalgam, we’ve strengthened our procedures to eliminate any response delays.” He also noted that the unit is now better equipped and is conducting continuous training exercises to maintain peak operational readiness.
The JKSDRF’s commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining stability across the region remains unwavering, regardless of whether the threat is natural or man-made.
Meanwhile, as part of a nationwide civil defence initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs, JKSDRF personnel carried out a mock drill simulating a boat capsize scenario at Dal Lake in Srinagar on Tuesday. The exercise was part of broader efforts to enhance emergency response capabilities across the country.
Earlier in the day, top officials, including the directors general of civil defence and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), convened at the Ministry of Home Affairs. The meeting, led by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, focused on the execution of mock drills scheduled for May 7 to strengthen civil defence preparedness nationwide.
