Agency (New Delhi): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, while addressing an environment-related event on Tuesday, stressed the importance of adopting an environment-friendly lifestyle by using minimal resources. Highlighting the significance of sustainable living, Yadav advocated for the use of solar panels and the creation of green spaces, alongside emphasizing the need to avoid single-use plastic.
The event, marking the culmination of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s campaign to plant a tree sapling every day, served as a platform for Yadav to express his views on the environmental challenges facing India and the world. Chouhan, in his address, raised concerns about the alarming rate of deforestation and its impact on climate change, predicting a 2 degrees Celsius rise in average temperatures by 2050 and the resultant melting of glaciers.
Chouhan recalled his 2021 resolution to plant a sapling daily and expressed gratitude for the support received from the people and the government. He proposed that the government should establish treebanks and develop green spaces in gram panchayats to further the cause of environmental conservation.
He also suggested that every household should install solar panels to save energy and reiterated the importance of preventing the use of single-use plastic. The event also featured insights from well-known meditation teacher Kamlesh Patel, also known as Daaji, who spoke about the role of meditation in raising consciousness and intuition.
Chief Minister Yadav’s advocacy for an environment-friendly lifestyle, combined with Chouhan’s call for proactive environmental conservation measures, underscores the growing awareness and action towards sustainable living practices in Madhya Pradesh. The emphasis on minimal resource use, solar energy adoption, and green space development reflects a comprehensive approach to addressing environmental issues at both individual and community levels.
