Agency(New Delhi): On Wednesday, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) introduced a new Model Curriculum Framework for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs. This initiative, led by AICTE Chairman Professor T.G. Sitharam, encompasses standard BBA, BBA Honors, and BBA Honors with Research programs. The unveiling ceremony was attended by members of the expert committee responsible for the curriculum’s development, including academics and industry professionals.
Professor Anu Singh Lather, Vice Chancellor of Ambedkar University, Delhi, chairs the committee. Their goal was to create a curriculum that not only covers fundamental management principles but also integrates global best practices to prepare graduates for the complexities of the modern business world.
A unique feature of the new curriculum is a mandatory three-week induction program designed to bolster students’ communication skills and provide them with a robust understanding of current and anticipated industry demands.
The curriculum offers two different tracks: a three-year program consisting of six semesters with 120 credits, and a more intensive four-year program spread over eight semesters with 160 credits, aligning with the National Education Policy.
Students who complete the three-year track will receive a BBA degree, whereas graduates from the four-year track will be awarded either a BBA Honors or a BBA Honors with Research degree. The curriculum is rich with elements such as the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), studies on human behavior and organization, the Indian constitution, along with required industrial visits, workshops, and internships.
Expanding its educational mandate, AICTE has now included BBA, Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), and Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) in its list of programs requiring curriculum development, with approximately 4200 institutions already approved.
In addition, AICTE has initiated a scholarship program for female students in BBA courses at approved institutions and launched a Faculty Development Program (FDP) aimed at enhancing the teaching capabilities of faculty members in these institutions.
