New Delhi (Agency): Avtar Human Capital Trust (AHCT) recently held the 8th Udyog Utsav at Avinashilingam Institute in Coimbatore. The event was a big step in helping underprivileged girls think about their future careers. More than 450 girls from nine schools in and around the city took part in this special event.
Udyog Utsav is part of Project Puthri, India’s first project aimed at helping underprivileged girls plan their careers. Since its start six years ago, Project Puthri has helped change the lives of over 11,000 girls in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The project teaches girls important skills they will need for good jobs after they finish school.
This year, the event was sponsored by several organizations like Harman Inspired Charitable Trust and Rotary Club of Coimbatore Central. Over 10 companies and government groups joined the event. They shared their knowledge and offered advice on different careers. The girls learned about jobs in technology, finance, the military, and more.
“Women’s workforce participation in India is around 24 percent, one of the lowest in the world,” said Dr. Saundarya Rajesh, the leader of AHCT. She said that although there are more jobs for women now, many challenges still exist. “Udyog Utsav helps to bridge the gap between education and employment,” she added.
Mr. M Prathap, an important government official in Coimbatore, also spoke at the event. He said, “Where girls are not represented, there is stagnation. Hence, girls’ education is for the welfare of the whole nation.” He praised Project Puthri for its work and said it is helping to make a better future where women are equal in all areas of life.
The Vice Chancellor of Avinashilingam University, Dr. Bharathi Harishankar, gave the main speech. She told the girls that a career is not just about making money. It is also about helping society. “Set your target on what you want to achieve and work towards it with dedication and focus,” she advised.
In the end, the event was about more than just jobs. It was about giving these girls the tools they need to change their own lives and their communities. With events like Udyog Utsav, the future looks bright for these young women and for the country as a whole.
